John: Hey Abhinaya, How are you doing? First off, tell everyone a little about yourself.
Abhinaya: Hi John, I’m good. How have you been doing? I am Abhinaya, a pre-final year undergraduate student in Computer Science and Engineering Department at NIT, Trichy. I spend my time reading and singing when I’m not dealing with the greatest machine of all time – the computer.
John: You had interned with us during winters of 2016 as a part of our ‘Wintern’ program.Tell us something about your expectations coming to WeCP for an internship?
Abhinaya: I did my very first internship at WeCP. When I applied for the internship, I had absolutely no clue that I would be selected. So, I was very pleasantly surprised when I received that mail. I really wanted to experience the work life at a startup company and observe the workings of and practices adopted by the industry.
John: So can you tell us about your experience while working here at WeCP?
Abhinaya: It was a wonderful experience, I should say. It was a new place and I had to live alone, without family and friends. But the people at WeCP made me feel right at home. Technically speaking, I learned more in one day than I would in an average week. I was exposed to various new technologies. WeCP really kickstarted my passion for software development.
John: WeCP gives you complete ownership of the tasks that are assigned to you. Which task that you owned at WeCP was your favorite?
Abhinaya: Apart from the software projects, I also worked on some technical articles for WeCP’s official blog. I actually had a lot of fun researching for content to write about. These topics were related to the different kinds of questions they were offering their clients, and I was amazed by the sheer uniqueness in the topics chosen.
John: In the hindsight, is there anything you would have done differently during your stay at WeCP with respect to the work that you did?
Abhinaya: No. I think my mentor provided me with a great work split up with enough time to learn and work on something new.
John: Where and what are you currently working on?
Abhinaya: As I said, I’m still in college, figuring out what to do with my life. I am working on a few personal projects, learning new things every day, liking my subjects more and more by the day.
John: What are your plans for the future?
Abhinaya: I have not decided exactly what to do. However, I am very sure about the fact that I want to contribute to this great field of Computer Science.
John: What were your takeaways from this internship?
Abhinaya: I learned to learn new things quickly and to apply them efficiently. I got a glimpse into what working in the industry would be like, and, to be honest, I learned to work for long hours.
John: Can you recall your most memorable moment here at WeCP?
Abhinaya: That one evening when all of us ate red hot pakodas made by the talented cook. That would be my most memorable moment. It was probably one of the first times everyone at WeCP came together to share a light moment.
John: Any message that you will like to give to our readers?
Abhinaya: WeCP is a wonderful place to work where you can make great professional contacts while also making great friends. During my internship at WeCP, I was exposed to some very exciting projects in Artificial Intelligence. I’d like to say that this is one company that has great things in store for the future.
John: Thank you so much Abhinaya. WeCP wishes you all the success in your future endeavors.
Abhinaya: Thanks a lot, John!
