WeCP April’18 Digest | Summer Internship’18

It was long, gruelling but nevertheless worthwhile journey. After processing more than 1000 applications, taking a plethora of interviews and having endless discussions, we have completed our internship recruitment process. A huge shoutout to all the team members who participated in the preliminary part of the experience that is the WeCP Summer Internship.

We sincerely believe that an internship is probably the best way to assess candidates’ proficiency and their passion in their respective fields. At the same time, it gives them a kick-start in what is an industry teeming with opportunity and avenues of learning.

As a start-up, it is imperative that we reach out to a greater audience. This not only includes our business endeavours, but also involves initiatives like these, with which we can enter the mindspace of young budding talent..

We would like to give a brief about what the WeCP Summer Intern  programme is all about and describe the process that the candidates had to go through. Finally, we would conclude by announcing the final list of candidates who have cleared the process and would be joining us on the journey that is the WeCP Summer Internship programme.

THE ROOTS

WeCP Summer Internship 2018 was envisioned as a continuation to our previous internship programmes. The Internship Period would be of 68 days, and it would be timed to coincide with the advent of summer breaks for university students, who were our  major target audience for the initiative as explained later.

The Internship programme itself would lend itself to be of a highly technical and programming oriented nature. It would not only help immensely in the knowledge growth of the candidates, but would also enable them to experience the work culture and atmosphere of a fast paced startup that works at the heart of a growing industry.

You might ask, “Doesn’t this sound like a very generic startup internship description?”. The answer is a negative. The difference lies in the fact that not only do the candidates have an opportunity to work as an SDE intern on research and development (mind you, cutting edge research in the fields of AI and machine learning among other things), but also on our business side of things by  working as Creators in their domain of their expertise.

ELIGIBILITY

Summer Intern 2018 was open to anyone who believed they had it in them to crack the process, but for the most part the target was university students who are highly skilled in computer science and programming, and have the knack to learn new things very efficiently.

THE PROCESS

This is the description of  the process that the candidates underwent, to determine if they could make the cut and were worthy of being a part of Summer Intern 2018.

The process started with resume shortlisting, where the candidates with resume suitable to the job role were shortlisted.

This was followed by an online test that not only consisted of an intense but fun coding section, but also several other sections that tested the candidates in a myriad of characteristics, ranging from english comprehension to technical aptitude.

This was followed by a one-on-one with an interviewer from our team who tested them on their on the fly coding skills, communication skills and also assessed their general fit at the culture here at WeCP.

Once all the above processes were completed, a discussion, in which the strengths and weaknesses of each candidate were analyzed, was initiated, and the final list of candidates was decided upon.

THE BRANDED FEW

And so we come to the final and most awaited section of this post.  We are very proud and excited to announce the names of the candidates who made the final cut.
